[Update] Progress so far
Hi all!
The past months have been hectic, as balancing my day job with game development took more time and energy than expected. Because of this, I haven't finished all the planned features for the upcoming release. That said, here’s a look at what I’ve been working on:
Events:
- I’ve completed eight new scenes with animations, and two more are currently being set up.
- I still need to write the text for these scenes.
User Interface:
- All game UIs have been redesigned to maintain a consistent style.
- Here are a few examples of the updated look.
Character Progression:
- The character upgrade system is finished, though it still needs thorough testing.
- Upgrades are now tied to village buildings. Each building offers its own unique upgrades for your character, or the adventure map and its rewards.
Combat:
- I removed the unnecessary wait times between character actions. Now, a new algorithm determines how soon and how frequently each character acts.
- New skills have been introduced for both the main character and enemies, and I’ve created a solid codebase that makes adding and testing new skills easier.
- Existing enemies have been revamped to make combat more engaging. I’m also creating special enemies for quests and Elite Monster encounters.
- There won’t be a boss fight in this update. I still need to finalize the boss’s combat patterns, skills, and animations. For now, there will be a placeholder event for the final encounter on the map.
Quests:
- Expect new installments for Harold’s, Ravena’s, and Amber’s quest lines, featuring fresh encounters, combat events, and rewards.
- I’ve also refined the quest system and am currently testing these changes.
Release Date: I underestimated how busy my main job would become, which slowed my progress on the game. However, the planned features are nearly complete. I’m also considering outsourcing testing to reduce the number of bugs at release. Once the testing phase for the release candidate begins, I’ll announce the official release date.
